Roof motor failed. Bmw warranty?

I have a 2006 M roadster.
My roof motor appears to have failed. I have the BMW warranty, will it be covered? I remember reading that this could be a a bit "hit and miss" under the warranty.
Any advice before I visit my local dealer (Cotswold).
 
I have called the warranty company (mondial?) and they say that all mechanical and electrical faults are covered. I'll book it in when taxed next month.
Here's hoping for the best!

I wasn't despite no sign of sitting water drains clean as a whistle
Mondial claimed they rejected because of sitting water ,luckily Dealer records all all calls to Mondial,I wonder why...................................................????
Mondial actually said (from recording )no claim it IS water collecting end off
They are crooks ,luckily dealer credited me with a large chunk of the cost

and car has always been garaged and is rarely used if raining

They will claim at point of repair it is failed seals ,not covered .................... :headbang: oh and age of vehicle :headbang: :headbang:
 
My motor failed in my old E85

A 2004 car 32k miles and the motor /pump assy replaced 2011 - no problem whatsoever !
 
This may be harder than I thought.

Anybody had any experience with Cotswold BMW in either Gloucester or Cheltenham?
 
Good luck - mine is well on the way to failure (although hasn't gone yet!) - the dealer won't help and neither will BMW :-(
I hear replacing it yourself isn't out of the question - looking at that as a summer 'pass time' myself...

If they say anything about the age of the vehicle - remind them that it was all documented at the start of this years policy ! The knew the risk when they took your money.

If they don't honour the claim consider doing it yourself as you then have the chance to seal up the motor housing properly. It's not that difficult and you only need two people for the actual roof lift.
I did mine yesterday just using Shipkiller's guide and it was straightforward with the only specialist tools needed being some torx bits and patience.
Even though my motor was rusted, I just removed it from the hydraulic pump, sprayed in some WD40 and baked on a gentle heat for ten minutes, stuck on a battery pack and it was as good as new.
I added a small coil of mesh round the motor side drain hole as I noticed that the end of the motor housing pretty much seals the hole. The mesh keeps debris away from the actual drain hole while allowing water to pass freely.
 
Collected it this afternoon. Excellent service from dealership only the £100 excess to pay. Very pleased!!
