Roof Motor Drowned

Hi All

My wife's '03 Z's roof failed about a month ago, shortly after which we could hear water spilling around behind as we drove. Having been a visitor to this forum for about a year now, I realized that the drain holes must be blocked, and motor drowned. A visit to my local Indie today confirmed this, and all drains now cleared. However, I was shocked to hear the estimate for replacing the motor - £865 +VAT for the motor plus labour - about £1400! :-(

I'm sure that others on here have talked about a new motor being under £300 from the dealers. When I said this to my Indie (who I have to say I trust, and have been using for years now), he was surprised, and said the motor only came with all the associated wires/hydraulics. I told him I would consult the real experts ( ie you lot) and report back to him

So Ladies/Gents, comments please

Barry

housing that most people replace

there is also a 50$ kit that you can buy that includes new bolts and such, cant find it though

these are the cheapest i have found these parts at, i have to buy one just not ready to spend 500 on parts yet. for now i just leave the roof down at all times.

my motor has failed and i have been quoted. this is from my email

The hydraulic motor replaced is £569 parts and labour inc vat.
