roof gone

Just finished mine, took about 5 hours. Not that hard a job but nerve racking when doing up/ down cycle for first time. My motor was in a real state, completely water logged as usual. :D
 
Mine too very corroded!! The hardest part was putting the wires arous the bloody casing!! That peed me off but generally if you follow the guide my nan could do it! Well happy
 
Hi Guys sorry for bringing an old thread to life again but I suspect this is the issue I currently have on the Z4 however just wanted to check one thing which is strange...

Issue I have is it that when you push the button down to lower the roof, you hear it unlock and windows come down. On occasion it will actually lower by a third and then get stuck.

The car is in a bodyshop at the moment having a couple of parking door dings taken out and the wing repaired thanks to someone in a supermarket car park. Got them to have a quick look at it and this is the bit I don't understand and need your expert advice...

The car was in the oven and he When he tried to lower the roof it went down no issues at all.

When the car was taken out and placed in the workshop (car had cooled down slightly) the roof retracted half way and got stuck.

He then tried again later (car was now at outdoor temps) and nothing other than windows and hooks unlocking.

Is this therefore the same issue as described in the thread or does this sound slightly different?

Really appreciate your advice? Looks like when I get the car back I'll get in to main dealers but would be good to hear your thoughts on this :thumbsup:
