Roof failure and hard top pre wiring checks

Hi all

Just wondered when I test drive a used Z4 and there any checks I can do which will help me spot signs of possible roof failure on the pumps (this seems to be a big expense if fails) and how can I tell if it has the hard top kit preparation installed (Im assuming they dont all have this as standard)
 
all UK cars have hard top preparation as standard...

not heard of a common sign of failure - other than maybe the roof being a bit slow or sounding strained :?

Ok thanks. Seen a few on the net and they mention pump failures and £700 bills
 
Yeah i think ur chances of spotting a due to die motor are pretty slim
Would just be obvious signs of a burning smell/an obvious strained noise.
Think its just down to blind luck and so long as its not a faulty motor/had too much use you might be lucky

(goes out to make sure my motor still works......)
