Roof Drain Plugs

So got home early today and fitted my new plate, so while there was still light and all my tools were to hand i jacked up the back of the car to check the roof drains.

Is it just me that thinks the rubber sh*t catchers on the end of the drains are a bit pointless and only help create the blocking problem on these cars ?

Anyway good news is my pipes were clear and i didn't have to remove the wheels or the cover, very easy from under the car with it jacked up.

The Sh*t catchers needless to say are now in my shed and won't be going back in the car.

Perhaps they were a clever ploy by BMW to create a problem so they could sell more roof motors ??? :evil:
 
Mine also removed by my indie following a check on the drains. suspect he threw them away though.
 
I recently took mine off and left them on the shelf, but with the future intention of finding a way to extend the drain pipe down beyond the sill, so it drains onto the road, rather than into the sill.
 
Anybody have a picture of exactly where these drain plugs are please?... i've only had my zed for 5 weeks and still learning :D
 
There's loads of threads on roof drains. Just do a Search on Roof Drains and many of the threads include either pictures of the plugs, links to pictures of the plugs or links to videos of the whole job (showing the plugs!). HTH.
