Hi, yes it's not difficult to check the drains are clear. If you pour a little water slowly down the side of the roof on a dry day you should see it exit from behind the sills. If it doesn't pour out the drains are blocked & need clearing.

After the first drain clean you will find that it is possible to carry this out without removing the wheel. This helps speed the process up and can be done more regularly.
Happy cleaning. Like the others have said. Relocating the motor removes this chore altogether.

In my experience the guides to drain cleaning don't help much. The main problem seems to be that muck accumulates between the motor housing and the bottom of the bucket it sits in. You can't really clean this from the bottom and doing it from the top is difficult at best. Cleaning from the bottom is worth doing but is only a small part of the issue.

Although I did do it a few months ago following Marlon's advice on his link above and it worked like a charm
Yes, you can't see what you are doing but it's not very difficult to find the bungs, remove them and clean the holes out by just feeling for them. I've moved my motor to the boot now, but still intend to do this every now and then just to keep them clear.
