Roof Down Squeak on a Facelift Z4

I had a 2004 Z4 with the notorious squeaky roof latch which my dealer took care of. I recently bought a used 2008 and with the return of nice weather have been driving top down for the first time and this car also suffers from the same squeak, seemingly from the same spot. However, the manual roof latch on this car doesn't press in and I'm discovering through other posts here that the offending latch doesn't exist on this year's model. So what could be causing the squeak? Easily fixed on my own? Will the dealership be familiar with the problem and know what to do?

Thanks in advance!

Mine too, driving me insane.

When I get around to it I'm going to lower it onto a towel and see if it's the same...

Chaps, this timely post may help...

Andy, how can you hear squeaks with that magnificent exhaust? :?

Ah, I'm afraid I think that only applies to prefacelift, hence the OP, & hence me attempting the use of a towel.

& Matt.. it's seriously squeaky. if the towel works it's annoying enough to leave it there a while.

Ah, sorry chaps.. got over excited when I though I had an answer. Squeaks and rattles are infuriating. Hope someone has a proper fix soon!

For posterity's sake, I thought I'd come back and post the solution as determined by BMW.

First, I deterimned that the squeak was NOT coming from the area of the latch (which is not there in a 2008), but the roof itself. The front gasket squeaks against the body or plastic when the roof shakes a little bit laterally in the down position. They say it's a known though fairly uncommon issue and it's just a matter of replacing that gasket; an $85 part which is covered under warranty. Part is on order, but I have every reason to expect that this will address my squeaks.
