Roof Closed Iteself!

Hi All

Wonder if you can help, I have trawled through the hot topic of roof not opening on here but can't find the answer to my problem!

I have a 2005 Z4 2.2l, I set off today and opened the roof before I left, I got to a set of lights, stopped the car and the roof just closed up without me doing anything.

Then the button won't open it again, there are no lights at the switches red or otherwise, it is like the switch is dead. I also have an aftermarket remote activated roof open/close which also won't work

The windows do not drop and there is absolutely no noise from the motor, I am guessing that as there is no window drop it could be the switch or something electrical maybe rather than the motor?

I have checked the 3 fuses in the fuse box and all are sound. The parcel shelf has not moved at all

I see many references to the microswitch which I will check this evening but would that mean that the switches at the centre console would appear dead?

Would appreciate any guidance

Thanks all

Simon

I would suggest checking the connections or even removing the aftermarket module and see if that cures it. (look under the ashtray area)

It sounds like something has triggered the pulse to start the sequence, which (excluding a rogue external signal) could either be a loose connection or a faulty module.

It maybe the unit has been fitted with the Scotch locks provide which aren't very good, you could try to just press them closed with pliers if it does work, get the connections soldered

Thanks - the remote kit has been installed for a couple of years so not sure why it would suddenly fail but will absolutely check it out
