Rocker Cover

Hi All

I have got the dreaded Rocker Cover leak on the N54 Engine 35i.

Reading about it and it seems best just to replace the cover along with the gasket. Any advice or recommendations?? Don't really want to put another plastic one back on.

Best thing to do both gasket and cover..consensus is that the BMW cover is probably the best..people have used the Chinese alloy versions often with disappointing results..

Waste of time changing the gasket as the cover often cracks after being disturbed..

I have a Rein cover which is regarded as the best of the non OE ones but not sure if you can get one in UK.

I’ve just had the Vanos recall done on my N52. They have replaced the whole cover. The date stamped is June 24 and is made by Mayle. You will be looking at around £365 from BMW but does come with gaskets.

Or buy the same part from AutoDoc. Link is for my car but gives you a guide price.

Hey, check out MAHLE ORIGINAL Rocker cover in the AUTODOC app https://m.autodoc.co.uk/mahle-original/20488958

I had a small leak from mine and I only replaced the gasket, that was over 2 years ago (72k miles)and have done about 10k miles, all seems well but I suppose time will tell.
