So, my brother has the 2.5 v6 base model Z4 it's a 2003 and he hasn't had it very long.

- well the other day he was driving to work and at the last moment the car in front of him swerved and a giant rock awaited for his cars destruction.

Now I haven’t seen it yet myself but he claims that the oil pan got taken out in the process. - my question to you guys is how difficult is that to change on a z4 and are there any braces aside from the kmember that hold it in place? Pictures of maybe a car on a lift or underneath would be greatly appreciated. I’m only a simple fbody guy (camaros transams ECT) but this sounds like a mess.

there's a fat shield that hides the car underneath. im sorry about your brother's car.... is he ok?

There are a couple of things that would have been damaged.

1. The plastic ENGINE COMPARTMENT SCREENING: No. 6 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BT33&mospid=47798&btnr=51_4963&hg=51&fg=80
and possibly the left and right AIR DUCT FRONT. No. 1 and 2

2. The metal reinforcing plate:
No. 3 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BT33&mospid=47798&btnr=31_0642&hg=31&fg=05
or No. 1 and No. 4 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BT33&mospid=47798&btnr=51_4957&hg=51&fg=80

Here is the drawing for the oil pan: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BT33&mospid=47798&btnr=11_2187&hg=11&fg=10

All of these can be replaced my yourself, but not sure of the oil pan.

I had to replace both left and right Air Duct Front and the Engine Compartment Screening on my Zed...
