Roads in England?

How are the roads in England for sportier driving? Seeing as i've only been there twice with my family, i've generally only seen the tourist parts of London. Any places you guys have that are devoid of cops and other cars? We have some good, scenic roads here in Phoenix, Arizona that are perfect for letting loose a bit!

England not so much as its quite heavily populated. Wales and Scotland are your best bet for good driving roads. Quite what state they are in is another matter as we've had a bad winter and potholes are everywhere.

Get out of London and hit the B and C roads keepitrill, and you'll have some fun on the roads. To be honest, you'll be okay on most back roads in any part of GB. Head up to Scotland for some truly memorable roads, or across to Wales for more hills and valley's.

Scottish roads up in the highlands and the West coast for sure, the Lake District and of course Wales. You have to get up real early to find empty roads in the SE of England unfortunately

Now there's a thing - I have never seen a meet in Essex / Suffolk, and it is within striking distance... I reckon you and Jonny Essex should get on it :wink:

Hartside pass in Cumbria is a great drive if you can get a clear run and roads in Northumberland and Scottish Highlands are great down here in the South its pretty pants wished for my Z when I was in Arizona, Utah would have been great to have it there and not the hire Santa Fe 8)

As a leisure cyclist, I would also stress to anyone not familiar with rural roads in the UK that they need to be totally alert with regard to encountering cyclists, walkers, horse riders, wild life particularly deer so it not a question of thinking you can put your foot down with wild abandon. Sometimes the national speed limit of 60mph is still far too high for many of the rural roads. :?

Yep,you've always got to be careful what's round the next bend.... Followed a Focus sti (almost) over a hump backed bridge on a z bend. Ambition - Adhesion = 1 less Focus sti on the road (in a tree). Did the Good Samaritan bit,he was ok,unlike his pride & joy.

Yes. I forgot to mention slow moving farm vehicles which can do a lot of damage in a collision.
