Road trip-with added pics!

Just got back home to essex after a week long holiday in Yorkshire using my z4, it went great & had plenty of room for all our luggage and proved to be a comfortable mile muncher.
It managed 40mpg on the long drive to get there sitting at 70ish mph (50 through several roadworks) it's also lost its propensity to burn oil which I think was caused by a grungy ccv as after blowing through all the breather pipes, using engine flush before refilling with fresh engine oil it's not needed any top ups in 2k miles (it was going through a litre in 500miles before this and the exhaust was very sooty)
Here's the (dirty) car by the ribblehead viaduct

Always nice to pics of Zeds, especially ones that are earning their living and not sitting around in garages!

Having the Ribblehead viaduct in the background is a bonus!

Smartbear,

What was your route to the Viaduct? did you drive over Buttertubs Pass & then into Hawes?

We were staying in Hawes & drove out past ribblehead on our way to settle

Did well with the fuel economy. Nice day today in the North East - hope you got some decent weather too.

:driving:

yeah, some great roads in that vicinty.

I did Buttertubs a couple of months ago Halifaxbantam. Definitely not how I expected it to be, one does have to be careful not to mow down any of the sheep! And watch out for the cattlegrids!

Stevo,

You are quite right mate, the Buttertubs sectionis not a driving road as such...great views, but narrow with lots of dangerous bends.

Worth a pause at the top to listen out for the Red Grouse calling out.

A road you have to concentrate on that's for sure. :o

The short stretch between Hawes & Ribblehead is nice. You can drive it quickly in a few places, but there is always the possibility of nailing a cyclist if you are not on your game. The whole stretch is popular with motorists, bikers, & cyclists alike...oh and sheep as you say :D

Excellent - a Z4 out on holiday and getting dirty, munching up the miles and doing what it's supposed to do.

Great photos and looks like you had a good time!
