Me and some friends are planning a road trip consisting of 4 cars with 3 passengers to Wales for some serious driving roads!

The plan so far is drive to Wales on Friday night, find a cheap hotel for the night, enjoy some immense roads and whatnot, then settle somewhere for the night and have a couple of drinks. The others would like to camp, but I don't do tents!

Can anyone recommend any roads/routes/locations etc?

This was my thread from last years trip, with pre-recommendations and post-photos too.

I hope this helps.

A good place for accomodation is Penrhos Golf Club, just below Aberystyth, which was a good base to loop up around Snowdon for the day.

Done many trips to Wales, albeit by motorbike, as the roads are so good.

We stay at Liverpool house b&b in Rhayader, which is cheap, clean and comfortable. There are a few pub restaurants in town, all of which were good.

As for good roads, almost all in the area are, you'd have to look to find bad ones!

Cheers

I have done this a couple of times and stayed near Ludlow (not in Wales but very near by) it was a great base to some excellent roads and Welsh countryside. Also the Ludlow brewery is great with some fine ales on sale :)

I'm planning one at the mo. I only live in Shropshire so it's a small drive to Wales. Just plan a good run and enjoy safely. Becareful of speeds in villages and towns as the police are very strict and will catch you out. Snowdonia is an amazing place and is well worth a days driving around alone. Have a few stop offs for pics and eats and just be safe.

The roads and villages around Betws y coed and Snowdonia are excellent..

There are loads of great B&BS and pubs for the overnighters...

We've been doing road trips around Wales for the past several years, and for the past three years have arranged a road trip for a group of friends, hotels, routes, food etc.
Our drive consists of a two night stop in a nice hotel ( B & B ), and a 130 mile drive on the Saturday, with Dutch pancakes for tea. If you want the details of the hotel and routes I am more than happy to email them to you, or if you wanted to tag on to our mini drive we are going again in July, you would need to find your own accommodation as we have fully booked out the hotel again.
The only BMW on the drive this year is a new M5 though, the rest are NSX's and a couple of other cars, sorry.
