After 5 years of the Alps this year was the West Highlands and Islands and we weren't disappointed. What a stunning place (helped by blue skies all the way) and what awesome roads. We overnighted at Erskine Thursday then Friday headed down the Mull of Kintyre. Saturday the tiny Corran ferry then then on to Mallaig and the ferry to Skye. The Isle of Skye was spectacular and overnight at the Torridon Inn. Applecross pass en route. Yesterday to Inverness, back to Fort William and again stunning roads back to Glasgow. Torridon Inn great hotel. At all costs avoid The Stewart Hotel in Appin. The worse I have ever stayed in and the manager was a total ****. However, it couldn't detract from an amazing trip in an amazing country.

Great pics and sounds a lovely trip, where those tyre marks on the road on pic 1 from you guys? :driving:

It is an amazing place  , I just hope this weather holds for the 2nd Z4 Forum run to Skye in a couple of weeks.

Not our tyre tracks on that occasion. VXR8 great up there as most roads fast and sweeping rather than tight and twisty. Applecross more of an issue as the car was as wide as the road in parts. I spent a bit of time in the VXR8 and its a great laugh, incredibly fast and amazing sound track but sloppy gear box and steering. We summed it up over a beer as they both did the same job, one with a sledgehammer and one with a scalpel. No guessing which is which :driving:

That's exactly what I imagined a VXR8/Monaro was like, but doesn't put me off wanting one purely for the noise!

The Applecross road is a nice drive but certainly best taken a bit easy due to the narrowness and blind corners. Great fun road though.
