I have a Ring 650 compressor. On Amazon they are £60 although I got mine for a lot less and had for a year or so.
Today I thought I would check the tyres on two of the cars. I checked the first with the full compressor, and then though why not just use the portable gauge.
Now I've never used it before on it's own so I removed the small bit of plastic to engage the three button cells. All that happens then is a bright white LED comes on (so you can see where to attach to the valve in the dark) and then the LCD displays "ERR". So I put the bit of plastic back in and connect it back to the compressor. Now everytime it make contact wit the power on the compressor it again says "ERR".
Look through the manual and no reference to the "ERR" message. Just a no "serviceable parts" paragraph. So I think great my compressor is shagged.
Google the issue and nothing is coming up, so I'm am fearing the worst. Then somehow find a post on the Ring Facebook Page with the same issue and a response from Ring.
Turns out there is another button cell, a 2032 within the portable tester
I have dozens of these around so change it out and all is working.
But why is there no reference to this in the manual (I have asked them now)
Rant over.
