Seriously sad discovery with a back rim recently.
Had a nice day a couple weeks back and took the Z out for a long beer run and noticed more noise than ever from the back that I thought was a bad wheel bearing and replaced a couple weeks before.. Well, replaced both since if your doing one might as well do the set for get it done reasons.
Anyway there's a Local guy that works exclusively on German made type cars (lots of recommendations from people i know with BMW's and Volkswagens) so I rang him and dropped it off rather than deal with the local (St)dealers. He called me 4 hours later and told me my rim was bent. Back Left side.
He showed me on his stand where the the dial indicator was at top side and slowly spun it around and the indicator with a full half inch of play was 3/4 of an inch away from the dial indicator at 180 degrees.
My jaw DROPED! :-o :-o
I never curbed the car or ran over anything.
Is it possible a new tire could hide the bent rim for a while before the tire wears down as it didn't sound the way it does when I bought the car. Some 9k on the tires and he said that ones worn pretty bad. Likely do to the warped rim.
So anyway, rather than saving for my rims that I wanted (Rezax) I'm looking for a match pair for the back end and get new tires mounted.
Sets me back for the rims I wanted and the wife wont let me justify as of yet.
