Rim wax etc

Seen a lot about this stuff and I'm looking for something that will help prevent my alloys from building up brake dust and help protect them from the huge amount of salt on the roads. Now I'm basically a lazy old sod so something that's easy and quick top apply would score highly in my book. I've seen an 'autoexpress' test that recommends a mer product, rim wax and poor boys also seem to be well respected. But what do you chaps think?

Main criteria for me are....

Protection from salt
Prevention of dust build up
Ease of application

Cheers

Poorboys Wheel Sealant works for me. Prevents brake dust build up and protects from corrosion perfectly. Easier to clean aswell.

You can also try Wheel Whores wax and cleaner.

I think any good Carnuba based wax will help - all down to personal choice and cost after that. I use Razeglaze 55 - clean and wax twice a year and no problems (and that's on 108s!)

I use finishkare 1000p high temp sealant, lasts easily 4-6 months

I used to use rim wax but it really doesnt last 5 minutes, virtually no water beading and loses that "slick" feeling after 6 weeks or less

If you want the best - gtechniq C5 wheel armour, supposed to last upto a year!

mint rims by Auto Finesse, very easy to apply but a bit pricy at £20. but poor boys wheel sealant is OK, not sure how long it lasts but good value for money.

Poor boys ordered cars washed and prepped today. Polish and wax tomorrow hopefully rims on Tuesday

Thanks for the advice

When i get new rims i'm getting them ceramic coated, £10/rim.

i did mine with a layer of autoglym and then the poorboys stuff x2 (it said on the back a couple of coats would be better than 1)

i then drove around for a week including a trip down south and around and then washed at the weekend. the dust and crap just wiped off no scrubbing needed!

i use bilbery wheel cleaner.

I have some Planet Polish Wheel Seal & Shine and its been on for several weeks, cleaned the car 3 times and haven't had the need to manually wash the wheels, blast of snow foam and jet lance and they're good to go again.

I would also reccommend Carpro IronX (for cleaning).
