Right To Repair?

I popped in to see a mate of mine who has a local garage, and promptly got given a leaflet by him regarding the "right to repair", coupled with a lot of muttering and mumbling e.g. "bunch of prats" etc
If I am reading this right, in 2010 the Euro Goverment are proposing that all repairs must be done by a franchised dealer!!, this of course is so as usual all boxes are ticked,,,

Heres a link;

Be interested to see what people think,,,

I dont think they'd get this through, and if they did it would only be for cars within warranty.
They "talk" about these things but very little gets done in the end.

It's basically due to the fact that the block exemption rule has expired and not been reinstated.

So the rules that meant manufacturers couldn't force you to be tied into their network has been allowed to lapse.

Mine will be out of warranty by then anyway and won't be going near a dealer.

Never underestimate the insanity of a politician. Across the Columbia River from me is the state of Oregon and their recent offerings in this arena include this lovely tidbit:

They will make it illegal to even put on a set of tires that aren't OEM specs/brand.
