Ride Quality Lowered on 18s (no RFTs)

Hey guys,

Thinking about a wheel/tyre upgrade in the next few months, and wouldn't mind lowering the car ever so slightly.

Main concern with that is the ride.

As it is now with Bridgestone runflats on the original 17in turbines the ride is simply awful, no other way to put it. I drive on a fair few potted and crappy roads, and the car definitely enjoys following along every contour in the bitumen it can find.

From my research on here switching to non-RFTs will significantly improve ride and alleviate the tramlining, but will lowering it a little bit (less than an inch I'd thinking) keep the local chiro in business?

Thanks

I have 18's with non run flats and the ride improved when I switched to Eibachs! That said I changed because I had a broken rear spring.

I have Eibachs on 18's with runflats and the ride is much improved. No more bouncing around over bumps and 100% more comfortable to drive, but at the same time sportier and lower! I didn't think that was possible before. I wouldn't go back, but bear in mind you have to be very careful over speedbumps, and I've caught the bottom of my car plenty of times in multistoreys etc, where the angle of the road sharply changes. Also you can't get a jack underneath...

I would just change to non runflats ,our roads what with speedbumps etc are too hazardous to make lowering the car a good idea ... just my opinion

Round where I live there are loads of speed bumps. My zed is on Eibachs with non runflat 18s, I've had no problems. Ride is pretty good too...
