Another reminder of when Top Gear was worth watching.

Nice car.
I used to own one but my favourite was my Jag Mk. 9 - they are getting pretty thin on the ground today as they rusted and were generally tossed was not being worth the considerable expense of restoration compared to the sports models, but if any model epitomized the old Jaguar motto - Grace, Space, Pace, it had to be that one.

Not my car but about the same colours as mine had:

I always fancied a MK10 or a 420g, I saw this car up for sale a few years ago (seems to be with another dealer now), Sir Willam Lyons very own company car: https://ddclassics.com/car-listing/jaguar-mk-10-3-8-litre-sir-william-lyons-rhd-for-sale/

I decided not to buy a Mk 10 way back when. Very tempted though as it was a RHD manual gearbox tricarb car. We mostly saw autos over here - not sure than any manual trans Mk 10s made it here. Plus the manual wasn't the old Moss box, it was the newer nice one.

It was a bit of a heavy pig, though. My Mk 9 weighed 3950 lb. and although a upright aerodynamic disaster, still topped out at 115 mph (by actual personal test as well as road test results). The Mk X weighed about the same and had a similar top speed (despite having more power) but better acceleration figures given that the Mk 9 was afflicted with the BW slushbox.

A manual straight 6 Coupe - what's not to like!

My uncle bought a rusty grey MK9 for about £100 back in the early 70s - I think it was a 2-speed Auto, but at the time was more interested in the cocktail cabinet in the back, even though he didn't have a key for that!

Unsurprisingly he didn't have it long. :(
