Retrofit seat heaters

Not for the Zed as it has OEM seat heaters, but my Jag XF. Long story but I've upgraded from standard to the top spec 18 way adjustable sports seats. They come with pelitier heating and cooling system and frankly the challenges to get it working are just too much (modules, harnesses, ducting and coding could be £1,000+)

Decision is to go with aftermarket pads which I'm comfortable to strip seats fit and wire up.
I see there are many on the market and the latest appear to be carbon pads that can be cut to shape, provide even heat, dureable, etc.

Has anyone any experience of these? Any preferred brand, points to watch out for, etc.

£1000 + OUCH!!!

Bet it was half that price as an option from the factory :x

Sadly this is the price of Jags. Also pay back for getting £5000 of sports seats for 10% cost.
Hope someone comes along who has used a kit and an comment on them.
 
I had Trimstar fit aftermarket carbon mats to my Msport seats on the last car, Two stage switch and excellent job done for £450 for 2 seats.

Bit of an update guys. MrsCJ wouldn't live without seat heating as she's recently had back surgery so seemed only fair to sort it.

In essence Jaguar nor an indy could do it and I really wanted to keep the oem touch control if possible, so took an hour with the wiring diagram and worked out the pin in and outs for the seat harness for the heater pads and various temp sensors.

So I created my own loom seen here with pins ready to go into the connector blocks in the seat base

Worked out the connections in this spagetti:

Tested the pads all worked in the footwell beforre fitting in the seats

Stripped the covers off base and back and installed the pads

and bingo.. heated seats controlled from the dash

Cost nothing, but a good few hours and a bag of hog rings and pliers.
 
Missed you posting this initially. I fitted a 50 quid pair of heated seat pads into the z4 seats I have in my campervan. They work amazingly well but obviously use aftermarket switches. Very impressive to have them integrated like that Phil.
 
Great job.. How much were the pads? So much nicer controlling them from the screen rather then some horrid non OEM switch
 
Thanks guys. I really liked the idea of touch screen control.
Billygilly - I salvaged the pads from the old seats, rather than pay Jag prices or waiting for delivery..
