Quick question -

Can the following be retro fitted to a 2006 Z4M Roadster using 100% / all BMW parts ?

Rear Parking Distance Control ?
Sat Nav ?
Cruise Control ?

I have found an overpriced Z4M without these items but wonder if the dealer can be persuaded to reduce the price / or retro fit the said items :D

cruise is troublesome on the M but not impossible.

the others should be - definately lots of info regarding the nav on here

Dealer charges £2500 for fitting satnav + £2500 for the parts. Don't think they do that for free ...

The rear pdc is easy with just a control unit to add, but you need a new bumper cover so count on £500 plus spraying for that. Has to be another £1,000 project using OEM.

Makes the overpriced cars not so overpriced when you consider the cost of retrofitting when you're nudging into the £6k+ region for a few items.

Rear PDC imo is pointless, you are that close to the rear of the car it's not needed, if anything it would be more useful on the front. If it's anything like PDC on my 1er then its useless anyhow as it only beeps when it feels like it.

Ok, thanks ....

The extras are not the be all and end all .... if the car drives and is better overall than the other one and I like it ... well .... :D

Just after info to see if I could use is as a bargaining tool - maybe just telling them their price is not realistic might be better - and asking for 12 months RFL

As PVR will confirm you can Retrofit Nav youself for £500-£600 though, but it will only add this sort of value to the car and not essiential, if it hasnt got it though use as a bargining tool :D

andy whats involved?? is it somethink i can do myself? or does it need to be coded? i would love to do this as long as im not chopping wiring ect ect as i hate to mods that alter the car irreversably .

There are 3 wires to connect. 2 of them splice into the lighting module circuit and the 3rd blue one goes somewhere into the DME. I realise this makes my post useless but I'm hoping it might help someone somewhere.

I have the instructions for the installation on the Z4 if anyone needs these but it does not cover the M.

Nope, specialist in South Shields did mine. Best Mod I've done ! 8)

I'm guessing the same specialist retro fitted my cc too then..lol!! Top man up there. :D

Again, best mod I've had done too. Worth it's weight in gold on motorways and worth it's weight in 100% pure cocaine in average speed camera areas.

Thanks - may consider the cruise control as have now bought this car :D
you liked it then :D get some pics up

I will get some pics done - I am hoping the weekend stays dry !

The wife is a professional photographer so I will try and get her to do it ... I think they may look slightly better than mine :D

I've been looking at a number of Z4MCs recently, not all of which have cruise. I think I've found one for me but without it - so I'd be interested to hear more about retrofitting it, especailly for all those average speed check we now have on the motorway network.

Plus there was apparently a plug and play option, but only for cars built before 10/2004 the dealer told me. Can anybody confirm this?

Thanks

James

Don't listen to the dealers, they'll tell you cruise can't be retrofitted to the M. Here's the thread with the information:
