Retractable or not mirrors

On a few occasions now when I unlock the car and get inside I find that the mirrors haven't come out. No big deal as I can press the button inside and out they pop. Just wondering is there a sequence on the key when you lock the car that means that the mirrors won't come out when unlocking or am I accidentally (somehow) doing something else when I get out the car.

On our 1-series my wife keeps catching the button as she gets out, which selects the mirrors in.
She also usually manages to drop the rear windows an inch or two at the same time.
When you then unlock the car to get back in, the mirrors stay in. Makes sense as the car assumes you want them in (tight space etc).
So my guess is you're simply nudging the button as you open the door to get out?

Much along the same line as Enuff says. I’m sure if you manually fold the mirrors in via the switch it then doesn’t reactive the auto function until they are then unfolded via the switch

Yup, imagine how annoyed you'd be if you manually folded the mirrors in to avoid scraping a wall when you parked, only for them to auto unfold when you unlocked it again.

Exactly that…..if you accidentally folded them manually they won’t auto unfold.

Also, if the battery is low, they won’t auto unfold until the car is started, but I doubt that’s the case as batteries are all relatively new.
