Restoring black trim

Has anyone and recommendations on a product to return black plastic trims to a true and longer lasting black?
I've used several of the 'back to black' and bumper aeresols and they are a clear liquid that makes the trim shiny and black, but just for a few days.

I need something that will perhaps put colour into the plastic. Working on the Mini at the weekend I noticed that it looks like the dealers valet company got some other chemical on the trims and it's taken colour out. Not enough to go back on warranty but annoying to me...

Well I'm not laughing - much :)
I could try it on a day the neighbours go out

So until then any mainstream products??

I used nutoil on a Ford Ka of my niece that had terrible marks on the bumper from the windscreen washer fluid.

£1.50 a bottle at Tesco :D

Learn something new everyday :D

Your street cred has been saved though. Having cats and dogs lick the car is a bit sad, a bottle of oil is not worse then your normal behaviour with your car ... :)

Forever Black

As Gosh is My Co-Pilot, It is money in the bank. It will make your trim black and it will stay black for a longgg time. I mean 8-12+ months. I have never found anything else that comes close.

I put it on a bunch of trim about 2 years ago. My front bumper and grill(e) still do not even need a touch up. The back bumper is more prone to different stuff getting on it - loading and unloading, etc. (not referring the the Z4 here).

I'll put up a link to a thread on a non-BMW board (if doing so is not verboten), where it is covered in detail.

That site seems to be experiencing some rare 'technical difficulties' right now, so if I don't forget, I'll link to it when it's back in action.

Edit: If you are outside of the US and it doesn't seem to be available where you are, I could send some to you by way of mail/post. It's not a pressurized container and it doesn't contain anything particularly menacing. So I don't think that we would end up in customs prison.

Glowing, unsolicited testimonials can be found on myriad forums - across all types of cars / vehicles.

I have noticed that Jeeps are prone to fading black trim in a big way. One of my neighbors wouldn't believe that it would work on his Jeep. I dabbed it on about 4 square inches on the driver's side trim. He said it would fade like everything else. A few months later he asked me where to get some, as it was not fading in the least. (I wouldn't advocate that same method for getting other people to use it, though).

Homes - this sounds like good stuff. I'll have a search around in the UK and see if I can find some on sale
