hi all, just wanna pick your brains if i may.gotta little 2.0 s.e with 103"s with r/f "s and want to change to 18"s with falkens.now my wheel of choice would be 108"s but high cost and corrosion issues sadly rule them out :headbang: so that leads me to replicas,135"s or possibly even schnitzers, replicas with 452"s will come in around £800 which sounds good,my concern is with the quality.will they be weaker? and will the finish stand up to everyday wear and tear?or would i be better of with a secondhand real bmw wheels that need a refurb?also my car on se springs rides a little high, what kinda figure would i be lookin at to get new good quality lower set up ,supply and fit.i was goin to do the light upgrade but figured id get more joy from wheels /tyres /springs.....and a ///M badge

theres cheap second hand 108's on ebay (regulary) with only corrosion damage to the lips (the inners stay fine unless curbed). a set went for £100 on zroadster. its a 20 min job to split them all of them.. just a ratchet and an 8mm hex drive. then you could take them to a bodyshop and have them sprayed or powder coated or a polishers and have them mirror ploished without laquer (you need to run a cloth over them once a week) for about £30 a wheel.

you could even do it yourself. i posted a step by step

youd then have a great set of genuine bmw bbs split rims

you could do this at a snip compared to your £800 reps

I picked up a spare set of 108's and 2 of them turned out to be close to perfect. If you want 108's then as pablo says get a set and DIY or pay for refurb. Anything else will in a few weeks time be considered as a substitute and you'll know you're running replicas.

Replicas themselves. Generally and I stress generally as there are of course exceptions, are weaker, heavier and corrode quicker. Now if you move from 16" to 17" and add the weight of replicas you will feel a drop in performance, especially on the smaller 2.0 engine (rotational mass and all that stuff). If Falkens weigh less than RFT then that will offset somewhat.

Can't help on the springs - I run and like OEM ///m on the 3.0i

didnt consider added weight and rotational mass, the 17" 103"s ive got are nice enough wheels,i suppose my main issue is the void between tyres and body,so maybe i will get the suspension lowered first and take it from there thanx :)

Just keep an eye on ebay and on here, it's quite common for a set of geniune Z4 18" wheels to come up at bargain prices, often with usable tyres. Better quality and better value at the same time

Hi, im just about to sell my Z4M roadster alloys with tyres if u r intrested? as i have just replaced them with the m3 19" alloys. Tyres have between 4 and 5m left. The wheels are in mint condition.

I'm (more than likely) about to part with my ellipsoid 107's, x3 with average Potenza RFT's. two are slightly scuffed (No big dents or gauges) the other two are near perfect. Open to sensible offers

arrrrrgh! id love some 107"s,got laid off on tuesday so cant think about spending a bean right now. :headbang:
