Replacing Z4 Hood / Roof

Had some w****r try get into my car and now the roof needs replacing.
Insurance company want £560 excess (due to my age, 21), so decided to look into the replacement myself.

I've found a roof online for £380 ono, if i get it how easy would it be to replace? What is the procedure?
Also how good is the BAS hoods?

Would it be worth while claiming on my insurance or giving it a go myself?

You can get a good 2nd hand one as you have already found and there is a member near you who could do the roof work or help you :thumbsup:

Personally, I would be inclined to get the complete roof and frame together and it will drop straight in, no problem.
They are available complete on ebay for about £500, so if your old motor is still perfectly good, you can offset that by £150 and have it in and sorted with the motor relocated to the boot in about 5 hours.

Alternatively, there is a good roof excluding the motor on Ebay for £250 and you can then transfer your motor over, but I wouldn't fancy trying to stretch and attach the fabric to the frame and hoops myself.

This is indeed sound advice , personally I wouldn't attempt the cover only method as it really requires specialist attention . There are companies out there that do it professionally but the options described above is your best way forward in my opinion .
