Replacing windscreen rubber seal (pic)

My windscreen rubber sealing strip has over the years become slightly compressed from the soft-top being closed most of the time.
When I put my hard top on there's a bit of slight leaking coming from this strip area. I'm of the thinking that replacing this strip will give me a nice new seal that's got more spring in it and hasn't become squashed.

Has anyone fitted one of these, it's part No2 If so, what's the procedure?

Cannot really help but wonder if this could cause the water I have in the footwell. What about a bit of clear silicon sealant to keep out the water.

Not sure about it causing water in the foot-well. Have you removed the carpet to get a good look and identify a possible ingress point? Water leads to staining/corrosion so the point should be visible even in the early stages.

Water in the footwell is usually caused by the door membrane seal being broken - remove the door card to check.

Back to OP - sorry, not seen anyone replace one of these before, interested how it goes though if you take that approach :) You may want to check the adjustment for the hardtop first - guides on here

I replaced mine 2 years ago and it's not that difficult. This is strictly trim and has nothing to do with keeping water out.

try altering the hardtop as they are notorious for gaps above the windscreen, adjustment is in the link

I was speaking with a BMW mechanic and he said a common cause of water in the foot well is the front drains being blocked and water tracking in through the air-vents. This may be worth checking out.
