Replacing the Trans/Shift Position Switch

I’m getting the P0705 error pretty consistently and need to change the switch. Has anyone done this work themselves? Is it difficult to do? Does the transmission need to be dropped?

Is there a detailed procedure or video available anywhere that I can follow?

Its easy if you can get the car high enough to safely crawl underneath it.

Always use a pair of axle stands don't just rely on a jack. For quick lifting I do keep a pair of drive on ramps which raises the car high enough to get to the underside. Also have a Scissor Lift in the garage to lift the entire car which is a great bit of kit and makes life easier.

Rockhopper - thanks. Have you replaced the switch yourself? Any advice you can provide?

I’ll be in the driveway on my back under the car (which will be on jack stands). Is the switch readily accessible? Location (right hand side)?

No, i got a garage to do mine as I'm not able to lift the car safely. Even on axle stands i really don't like going underneath....

I think its quite an easy job though from others on here who have done it.
