Replacing Front Fog Light on E86 - Bumper Removal Required?

My passenger-side fog light has been misted up for some time and so I've got a replacement from Soper's for £90. All I need to do now is fit it! Do I need to remove the bumper to fit or can I access from the access panel in the wheel-arch?

Thanks

Excellent, thanks Colin! Tempted to have a go now if it's that easy but I think I'll leave it to the weekend...

This wasn't quite as easy as I'd hoped. I jacked the car up, took the wheel off and opened the access panel but it's not big enough to do much more than change the bulb, so I then peeled back the wheelarch liner and then was able to undo two horizontal bolts that hold the fog light in place, but I was foiled by an inaccessible vertical bolt that I couldn't see or feel but was there, as there's a hole in the replacement light for it. So all re-assembled and I think I'll get my local mechanic to fit it.

I may have got it completely wrong  but I do think this is a bumper off, wheelarch liner off job to me.

If there's an easier way please let me know!

From the front of the car remove a small vertical screw that goes up and secures the inboard side of the light. Turn the wheel on opposite lock and you have access to the panel. You then have access to 2 bolts, one above and one below the light on the outboard side of the light. It's a jiggle but the lights do come out through the panel. There are only 3 screws securing them. My 15 year old son did each side in 5 mins.

Feel under the plastic at the front of the car, above the grill, and you will find the vertical screw.

Thanks Colin - yep - found it now. Can't believe I missed it! :headbang:

No probs, you have to give it a bit of a twist but it does come out through the panel. I put my son on to it coz his hands are smaller than mine. :D

Excellent! Job done, in fading light and with fat 43-year old fingers too! I also realise now, looking at the old unit that the small cross head bolt that runs through the grille allows up/down adjustment of the beam of the fog light.

Thanks very much Colin, that's made my weekend. I owe you a pint!
