Replacement Windscreen

I've had a chip for a while and sods law it turns into a mega-crack, just before it's first MOT on friday.

Going through insurance (£75) and I've requested an OEM screen, will find out shortly if they accept the extra cost.

I've been given the option of a 6" tinted screen.. has anyone had any experience of whether this is any good? Mine wasn't, not sure if it will look silly!
 
I thought they did have it as an option, thats why i asked here. This is a part number apparently for an oem screen with the band.. although it might not have been a UK option...
 
It was an option on the Z4 - as part of the comfort pack IIRC.

However, when you do order your new screen, make sure you get the correct one for the car as there are different screens depending on whether you have rain sensors, green band, both or neither.
 
My replacement screen (Pilkington) came with a green tinted band about 1.5 Inches graduated down from the black edging. Can't even tell it's on unless you hold white paper against it.
