Is there an alternative to paying the dealer $175+ for a replacement key for my 2003 E85?

If you were in the U.K., yes, as I’ve used this guy before, though look on M cutters on your side of the pond - remember, never have your car keys posted to your home address just in case...

He used to do a repair service for about £30

I’ve bought a blank key from eBay, and bought the programming unit from eBay also. Key cut and paired with car and then programmed by removing the white box under the dash and uploading the information to the key. Not very hard tbh

I used him to change the batteries in both my keys. £40. Bargain

My Z4 only came with one key and I used this guy:

He also has an eBay store:

Was a decent bloke and and quite a reasonable price for a replacement key. Might be worth dropping him an email to see if he can sort out state side?

But as Jembo says above, don't ever have your keys posted to your home address - always better to be safe than sorry!
