Just thought i'd share a fantastic new contact I stumbled across.

I was looking on Ebay for flip keys and saw the cheap cases but then also read a lot of posts regarding problems with the conversion and the fact that you have to butcher your current key which is a sealed unit, to attempt the conversion. I came along another listing for brand new original diamond shaped keys programmed with a virgin transponder so contacted the guy for some advise and he directed me to his website for a proper flipkey.

I ordered a Bentley style flip key with a virgin transponder that he would program for free which arrived last week so I drove over on the weekend to have it programmed.

What a nice, genuine and professional guy he turned out to be. He told me my Z4 was the first one he has done the key for but it was programmed in no time plus he synced all my other keys. The new flip key looks and feels stunning as it has a quality feel with some weight behind it and the pictures really doesn't do it justice (had the cutting left to do which I had done at a place he recommended and it worked first time).

We were then talking about other bits of programming (as he has all the software and has worked on other BMW's but hasn't worked on Z4's before) then it started to rain hard so I had to leave and arranged to pop over another day when the weather is better. The main thing I want done is audible beep when alarm on as two press on lock deactivates motion sensor and now with Gaptech RCH+, I have to be careful how many times I press the buttons lol.

When I had got home he emailed me to say he knows how to do the audible beep but has also worked out how to fold my mirrors on locking using the BMW SSS software (plus offered to do the final programming when I fit cruise control harness / stalk) so if anyone can get to East Ham (E6) and wants keys cut, a proper flip keys or a bit of programming (still experimental but my car will be the guinea pig) at a fraction of dealer prices, get in touch with Ben on the link above.

wow! how to revive a long dead post....
Ben is well known on here and recommended by many....
BMW have a limit on keys - there is space for 10 keys in the ecu and you can delete and remove old keys. You need a blank transponder and then you can add as you need. This is for the immobiliser.... for the central locking and ignition key there is no problem.
you can remove the transponder from previous key or add a new one. Transponders are a couple of quid. Programing is very easy with the right kit.

Sounds great but a tad far from my base in Lancashire... anyone know of any similar reputable outfits in the Northwest as I'm down to one key after losing the other and the battery is dead in that one in any case!!

If your car is not a daily (or you can manage) then Ben will also do it by post. The GM5 isn't hard to get out.
