Replacement bolts to hold 108 rims together?

This guy has a cheap set of 108's for sale - could possibly butcher these and sell the other bits and pieces for spares.

Hmm, are the centre stars the same for front and rear 108s?

Obviously the rims are different widths but at least a spare wheel would give some spares that would fit front or rear...

think CJ will confirm centres are different

they all appear to be the same on my two sets... :?

I checked the centres on mine at the weekend - definately different. They're stamped with a different code and actually say 8J or 8.5J on them, so certainly not interchangeable :(

Well, I've got 10 bolts ordered and they should be with me tomorrow. Fingers crossed they're the correct size but they should be, although they are a slightly different head design. They're coming from PW Motorsports who're the official importer of BBS stuff into the UK.

Finding any suitable bolts has been a nightmare! I've been in touch with BBS directly in Germany and they won't supply bolts for road-use wheels to me or PW Motorsport due to liability issues. The bolts I'm getting from PW Motorsport were from a supplier that they use but are to the same spec as BBS ones.

I'll report back again once they've actually arrived and I've had a chance to play around with them. Fingers crossed for success :)

Hi guys - been out for a couple of weeks on hols., so not really ignoring this thread.

Bolts are identical on fronts and rears.
Stars have the appropriate rim size in the casting as stated earlier, so not interchangeable if you plan on avoiding confusion.

My local wheel refurbisher had a box of these bolts last time I went in. If you don't have any luck then I can ask him for the source.

Don't even think of driving with one missing. I came back up an autoroute with some split rims. One bolt had sheared off roading. Lasted less than 100 miles before they all popped off and let the tyre down in seconds  I was just the passenger so was pleased to see the driver caught the ensuing tank slapper.

I stand corrected, they say 8 on the front on all of them i thought that was what you were looking at - the back has the full size

What driver/socket/torx are people using when udoing the 108 bbs split rims. Looks like a 12 point star similar to a Torx but that has fewer splines. Anyone know a source for these?
Cheers

Guys
Found the answer re the correct driver.
Its a M8 XZN Spline bit.
I bought a set including lots of various other bits from Machine Mart (http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/cht144-40-pce-torxspline-bit-holder-s) but they are available individually on ebay if you dont want a set(http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/M8-XZN-12-Point-Spline-1-2-0-5-inch-drive-bit-TOOLS_W0QQitemZ120328358355QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item1c042109d3)
Came out POP with the proper driver :D .

First come first served, Jon the parts advisor (coopers) notified me some time ago that he had two bolts from a broken 108 - he may still have them;

'Hello Alan

We have just scrapped a damaged rim, and I have removed 2 of the bolts for you if you still need them.
Give me a call on 01452 872666

Regards
Jon'
