With the Zed on SORN for a couple of months I've been tinkering. Both front brake hoses had MOT advisories two years running and although the tester said it was just surface corrosion on the ferrules I got a pair of Pagid hoses from Eurocarparts at £28 delivered (with 25% off code), DOT 4 fluid, a Sealey VSO2015 power bleed kit for £14 off ebay and swapped the hoses yesterday.
It was an easy job, I remembered to seal under the brake fluid cap with some clingfilm before I removed the pipes which all but stops the fluid pouring out, and got to it with the bleed kit. This one uses 20psi from a spare wheel to pressurise and continuously top-up the the filler during the bleeding, in all honesty I wasn't that impressed, it was all sealed and fitted correctly, maybe I wasn't using it right but whatever pressure I put through it was a real snails pace affair, more like a gravity bleed. In the end I resorted to old fashioned foot pedal strokes and soon got all the air out (Small tip, try tapping the calliper with a rubber mallet whilst bleeding which shifts the last of the air bubbles).
All is now good for the MOT in April with a nice solid pedal and saved a few ££££ as well
