RenaultSport Megane 265 Cup

Have got my hands on this thing for the weekend, and jeez am I impressed!

Pull out of a corner and pelt it and you will get lots of torque steer so I wasn't expecting much in the twisties, but keep the revs in the sweet spot, sport mode, extreme map selected and it absolutely creams through corners better than a fwd hatchback should! Effortless progress and a serious amount of grip..

Has anyone had a go in any of the uber hatches about at the mo, eg the ctr, Megane, focus etc? I found the AMG merc to be very clinical, and borderline dull but the megane felt a lot more spritely.

Ridiculously impressed, have only managed a 6 second sprint to 60 so far but I don't expect to be taking it back with good tyres left...

honestly your saying everything i felt about my fiesta ST... i was shocked how capable it is.... now with a decent power hike its actually a monster, these hot hatches are so fast now days its not even a joke. That car must feel like a rocket!

What are you now running in it ? 230 or 265 - I'm just gobsmacked that a Fiesta ST now packs a bigger punch than an Escort Cossie.

Been out with an 265. Quick enough to keep the ///M honestk in a straight line and probably easier to push on the twistiest, in the real world. You never know how hard the other guy is trying, but I was travelling about as fast as I'm comfy with on the road. They is quick cars.

Only I don't trust Renault reliability I'd be very Tempted by a 225 Sport as a Daily shed. Under 2k to buy one theses days.

The 225 or the 265? Ive heard people knocking the 265 due to being minimalist and dull but thats why I like it tbh, zero fuss, awesome seats, great driving position and no clutter

It's insane isnt it, the longer I drove the better it got! Such a communicative chassis, I honestly think given the same stretch of road Id probably be as fast in the megane as I would in the z4m. Think thats where the z4 comes into its own though, the 'feel' of the roadie trumps any hatch in spades

Still, if i was after a daily Id honestly be putting down cash I was that impressed! Not a sniff of understeer

Very tempted by a 225 cup thats popped up near me (in yellow no less), valid scepticism though a mate had the last na clio 200 and after itermittently cutting out for months it eventually got atuck in limp mode and took a month to rectify. Not good for a 4000 mile car!
