Removing wing mirror cover

Anyone have instructions on how to remove the wing mirror cover? Need some scratches repaired with respray.

Hey Nuts
If you have a set of plastic prise tools to use , I just went around the edges with the one that looks like a butter knife. It pops off fairly easily. If you use something metal, it would probably damage the edges 👍

Is that correct that the glass is clipped in? I read on another thread that you had the move the glass down and then move a clip at the top to the left to release the glass

Well done for questioning that. Pelican parts has been my go to over the years and assumed they would be correct. However I must admit I posted the guide without reading it and they are wrong.

The yellow arrow points to the groove you slide a screw driver into and then rotate. This releases the mirror. Do not prise anything until the clip has been rotated:

Well, if you break yours first, then you can tell me what not to do as I need to fix a vibrating glass in my passenger mirror

Thanks all. Really sounds like I'll be doing some damage if i'm not careful

Getting the glass out is the difficult part. Angle the glass all the way down. I use a torx 6 single piece screw driver, or a very small cross head is the next best, to slide into the groove and rotate. It can take quite a bit of force.

Now try and hook out the glass. If you're lucky no sticky pads have been used between glass/heatpad and the motor actuator. There's a 50% chance of this. If they have been used then you have to slowly prise it out. It's difficult on your first go.

After you have the glass out the rest is quite easy except for the final two plastic tabs holding the cap on. Jam something into one tabs holding it open, thin piece of solid plastic, and lever the other tab with a flathead screwdriver. Then lightly twist the cap and it should pop off.
