Removing the Error Oil message

Hi all, wondering how to remove the error message on the oil level reading on dash. It simply says error, and while I appreciate that may mean a faulty oil sensor is there no way to clear it to see if it pops up again? Fairly sure this has occurred due to me topping up on oil, and hoping the knock on is stopping my waterpump from working, and hence the overheat in previous post.
