Removing silicone...

I received my new bonnet and boot badges yesterday - yay !

The new bonnet badge has long pins on the back a la OEM, so I can use the nuts to hold it on... I intend to use a little bit of silicone adhesive too, but first I need to get the old silicone off so the badge sits flush, and it really is firmly attached. I don't want to scratch the paintwork, so does anyone have any recommendations for removing this stuff gently ? Is there a liquid of some kind I can use, or should I use something to heat it up and soften it before trying to peel it off ?

I would use a hair dryer first to soften it and I expect it to come off then without issue.

You can buy a liquid to remove silicone, but I would worry it might remove the paint as well.

You could try the French government, i think they are getting some experience with silicon removal, the NHS as usual may be playing catch up

Perhaps if I'd used THAT kind of silicone my badges wouldn't have been nicked in the first place, just stroked repeatedly :lol:
