Removing silicone...

I received my new bonnet and boot badges yesterday - yay ! :D

The new bonnet badge has long pins on the back a la OEM, so I can use the nuts to hold it on... I intend to use a little bit of silicone adhesive too, but first I need to get the old silicone off so the badge sits flush, and it really is firmly attached. I don't want to scratch the paintwork, so does anyone have any recommendations for removing this stuff gently ? Is there a liquid of some kind I can use, or should I use something to heat it up and soften it before trying to peel it off ?

I would use a hair dryer first to soften it and I expect it to come off then without issue.

You could try the French government, i think they are getting some experience with silicon removal, the NHS as usual may be playing catch up :)

Perhaps if I'd used THAT kind of silicone my badges wouldn't have been nicked in the first place, just stroked repeatedly
