Anyone removed and refitted the roll bar covers as i would like to spray them black but i have heard that the tabs break so cannot be re used.

Cheers Gaz

I've heard the same from several sources... would be interesting to see if there are any DIY methods of replacing them.

Cheers for the link may order some of those.

Noticed in some pics of the M roadsters that they have the black covers is this standard.

I removed mine to raplace with one suitable for he OEM wind blocker.

Last time I looked on that part auction site, they only had one for wind blocker, so would double check first

For sure you need to check they are the right one's. - The part numbers are listed for each item and I'd check back against something like http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partxref.do?part=63126907496&showeur=on to ensure they are correct before ordering.

I used two butter knives to remove mine. I broke one clip which did not hurt putting it back on. When I had them off my Wife and I covered them in leather. Turned out very nice. If you try to do it. Try to find thin leather.

And a fine job at that. I know, I saw them in person!

Yes, black is standard om ///M Roadies

I wanted to change mine out for the black ones as well but to buy them (those installed on the ///M's) it was like triple the price of the OEM silver covers. Careful when removing them as I've also heard most break in the process (as noted in the link Wondermike posted). If you figure out a safe way to remove them, paint them and reinstall them....PLEASE post.

Good luck and looking forward to pics :?

Spray-paint is the way to go. mister_roger has painted his roll-hoop covers matte black. I've seen them in person, and even when my eyes were inches away from them, I couldn't tell a difference between his roll hoop covers and my OEM Z4M roll hoop covers.

Cheers for the info everyone and the pics will speak to my mate that works for BMW see how much he can get the M covers for and my brothers mate runs his own retrim business so get a quote for black leather as that is what i would really like but not at the price i have seen on line if not will spray satin black but whatever i do will post pics.

GAZA62, watch with potential roof rubbing problems by trimming them in leather. Next time you're in the car, have a look and see just how close the roof is, there have been some people on here with a hole rubbed in the roof, there was a thread recently about it.

Satin black will look great anyway.
