I bought a z4 last week and noticed some light scatches on the front which isnt too visible in the day time

Is there a cheap and easy way to remove these? I am based in bromley if that helps

Polishing it will help but if you are handy with a machine polisher I'm sure you'd get rid of those light scratches quite easily

Machine polish will remove those light scratches, looks like poor washing technique.
If you are a first-time machine user I would get a random orbital. I got this about 4yrs ago and it has been superb, kit has everything you need to get started except polish. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EXZENTER-ROTIERENDE-EXZENTRISCHE-Profi-Poliermaschine-Polierer-Set-2-710Watt/360703343538?hash=item53fb983bb2:g:7aEAAOSweWtcmKJz

Try this stuff https://www.menzerna.com/products/polishes/car-polishes/finish/ its what the german car manufacturers use.

Don't forget to clay before polishing and a coat of good quality wax after you have polished out the scratches.

I'd be removing everything that's on the car so that you know what you're dealing with.

All sealants, waxes and polish should be removed to get all the panels cleaned.

Then start in a small section on one panel to start bringing the paintwork up to an acceptable level.

There's many, many, many products available and lots of info on the detailing section of the forum.

Sadly you're going to spend more time cleaning it, buying cleaning lotions and potions along with hiding you're new addiction from friends and family.

Welcome to the club!

Thansk for the suggestions, what does clay before polishing mean?!

Which of those menzerna do i need? I havent used a polish machine before and wouldnt trust myself with it. If there just one simple polish i can use once its been washed? Or is this something a car wash place can do?

Try Bilt Hamber clay bar, you lubricate with water. You could always get a meguiars kit from Halfrauds but that will always need a detail spray to lubricate......costly in the long run. https://www.bilthamber.com/waxes-polishes-and-clay-bars/auto-clay
Before you clay try running your hand on part of the bonnet (wash the car first), it will feel rough, this is contaminants, after you have clayed the paint will be as smooth as glass and then safe to polish.
For light scratches I would use menzerna final finish 3000 or 3500. You can use it by hand......this will give you a good work out! But if you fancy bringing your paint work to a superb standard then machine polishing is the only way to go. Don't worry about using a random orbital polisher and very fine polish, so long as you keep the machine on the move and do small areas at a time you will be fine. The website detailing world has loads of info and there are loads of websites supplying all sorts of cleaning products. Wax will be your best friend after a polish. I have a wax for winter and then use R222 for summer use, doesn't last long (6 weeks) but the deep gloss shine on a dark paint is the best I have tried.
Have fun!

I wouldn't even consider doing it by hand (that's not to say it won't work, but my God it will be hard graft). DA polisher is perfect for that level of marring and you stand a chance of actually enjoying the process rather then hating it!

Here is a popular DA polisher kit for a beginner that doesn't break the bank... https://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/das-6-v2-dual-action-polisher-menzerna-intro-kit-1

You can also try the Meguiars SwirlX and ScratchX. Cheap and easy to use.

It will need a DA though as you'll get the best results after...
