Removing Exhaust Trim

Anyone got any tips for removing a pre-facelift exhaust trim?

Mine seeds to be stuck on and I can't pull it off (I have removed the screws) or tap it off from behind.

Has it perhaps just been malleted on really hard?

Tried removing mine but only managed to remove one as the head of the screw on the other one sheared off,i used plenty of WD40 and left for a few minutes then broke out the hammer for some gentle persuasion but as i said only got one off and the other did'nt budge. Not an easy job if they have been on since newand never removed.Good luck

Thanks for the tip - will go out now and see if some spray loosens them.

Redzed, completely forgot to thank you for your tip - it worked.

After leaving the spray to soak in I coaxed the tips off with gentle hammer taps and pulling with mole grips.

Look much better after some spit and polish:

The tips look much better polished must have another go at mine, did you something to protect the tips from the molegrips and was it autosol you used to clean.

I didn't actually, the mole grips were gripping the inside of the tip and underneath so any marks would be hidden. Suppose I could have wrapped in a cloth if I had been more carefull.

For a proper post of how I cleaned them (using Britemax polishes) see here:
