Removing Centre Phone Cradle

Hello All,

Hoping for a little help as have been looking everywhere but can't seem to get a complete answer.

I want to swap out the centre console try of my E89 as quite frankly the one I have is useless.

I have the two cupholders and phone cradle option. I want to swap out for the tray option (with just anti slip mat) to give more storage. Have all the parts ready to go, just now need to get stuck in.

The issue I have is I know how to remove the tray (4 screws, 2 under cupholders and 2 under phone cradle). Removing phone cradle I understand I need to pry it away as it is "clipped' in. Up to this point I think I am good.

My issue is once I unclip the phone cradle, I have the wires come out of the bottom of the cradle to deal with. All other examples I have seen people either cut the wires, break the cradle etc. Want I would like to do is correctly disconnect the cables (I just don't know where the other end of the cables connect to). The cables run from back of phone cradle down into the armrest under the centre console tray, but i don't know where they end up so I can disconnect them.

I want to correctly disconnect so the cradle is not damaged, and in future can be re-installed if required.

Can anyone assist with this? Thank you in advance for any help you can give.

Thank, Rob.

I cant remember exactly what I done but after removing the phone cradle and the tray it sits in I just disconnected all the wiring and tucked it under the new tray.
From what I remember there is a bit of space to hide it.
Cant remember if I read somewhere that part of it is needed for bluetooth so it cant all be taken away.

How do you get the damn phone cradle out?

I have the phone cradle and storage tray, but done want the cradle in. Would rather just have a void.

Its not easy. Basically you have to try and force some thin plastic strips down and around the cradle to try and pop it out.
You will never use the cradle again so I suppose it doesnt matter if it gets damaged.
