Remove the roof from e86 coupe

Hello all. New here. I have an 2008 e86 z4 3.0si that I am turning into a track car and will be installing a full cage.

In preparation for this I would like to remove the roof. I read in multiple places that you can do so by removing four bolts and using a guitar string to remove the adhesive on the perimeter. However, I haven't seen a detailed writeup. I have removed the headliner and the four bolts on each corner but am now stuck - specifically where to insert the guitar string from the interior...the two logical locations are marked in the attached.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I found this thread in the "M" section - hope it helps!

TIS says go from here. Keep us posted on how you get on, one day I'll get round to doing a carbon one on mine so any more pointers will be useful. Are you going that way or refitting the original after the work?

I have done this and it is fairly straight forward but be careful as you pull on the guitar string / cheese wire as I ended up cutting my wrist trying to get extra force on the wire . I think I used a BBQ skewer to get through the silicon at the rear of the roof and then fed the wire through .Take your time is the answer . If you see my build thread here https://z4-forum.com/threads/z4-e86...ange-to-left-down-change-and-right-up.143997/ and go to page 9 it may help or send me a PM if you need more info .
