Remote wouldn't work

This morning I couldn't open the car with the remote. I opened the car with the key and it started fine. After trying the spare key and fiddling for a few minutes without success I decided to disconnect the battery for a bit. Reconnected it was still the same. :(
Anyway, the car was starting ok so I decided to go - then I found I couldn't turn on the house alarm with it's remote. Intrigued, I tried the wife's car - no joy. Something was interfering with the remotes signals.
On arriving at my destination the remote worked fine, when I got home the evening I still couldn't lock the car with the remote nor use the other remotes. After being home for 20 mins or so everything started working again.
Never had a problem before anybody else had strange interference?

That's very odd Dave. . . any new phone masts been erected locally? Not that they would interfere but if a new line of sight from one to another then who knows?

How's your foot?

:driving:

Not that I know of Paul, I'll see if it happens again tomorrow. There are some builders up the road and I wondered whether they had any kit causing it.

The foot's fine, thanks  The bone's mended fine - just a few aches now and again from the soft tissue damage. I went out on a group motorcycle ride to Chichester last sunday - the first major ride since I fell off the scooter in Kos that broke it :dizzy:

I've had a new router for 6 days and I thought it might be it but I turned it off and it didn't make any difference. I have a manual brass bell :)

Good to hear your ok and back on your bike - magic!

Talking of magic - I'm going to keep an eye on this topic - got me intrigued. . . :?

Hope you find a solution (or the problem disappears)

The only time I've had similar was when I went to visita customer TWR racing in Oxfordshire in the late 90s. Every time I went there, the car remote wouldn't work (bmw E46). There was a massive mast on the site and I put it down to that.

We had a similar thing here a year or two back, there's a Close that runs off to the left of our house with about 12 houses. One morning everyone came out to leave for work but none of their cars would start. I tried my car and it fired up fine. We never found out why, but it was afternoon before anyone got a car going along there. Very odd!

Strange! At least mine started. It could have been White Walkers though.

I used to have and audi a5 company car with keyless entry... Which never used to work when i visited one particular friends house... So i would have to dig out the key to unlock it.

I just presumed it was some interference.
