I have a 2003 BMW z4. I'm looking to buy a remote car starter and I want to install it myself. I only have one key with the car. What I don't know is do I need a bypass for the factory alarm? How do I know if my car even has a factory alarm built in?

Couple of easy ways to tell, firstly do you have a sensor under the bonnet where the braces meet?
Or lock the car with the window down, and stick your hand in and wave it around and see if the alarm goes off.
