Remote Software Update

I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on a problem I am having with the remote software update, which isn't updating!

I have downloaded the update on my phone and transferred it to my car but that's as far as it goes. I get a message in Idrive stating preparations for the update have been completed and that I will be notified when the upgrade can be installed. I've had this message for over a week now and feel a bit puzzled that it still hasn't updated. Is this normal? can anyone shed any light on this?

On the subject of updates (slight thread hijack) is there any information on whats changed with any given update? new features, bugs, fixes etc ?

Yes, there's description of changes.

I suspect long drive is needed for the battery charge.

What if the car insists there are no
updates available but there obviously are?! Mine is 11/2021.40 software, which is what came with the car. They are up to 07/2023 software now!
