It's a scam that's been around for a few years but came accross this today at a local asda carpark, so just a reminder to everyone it's still about.
Was at a local Asda superstore, 3pm very busy place.
Parked into a space in my DD, the car beside me was occupied, bloke and 2 kids in back all who were eyeing me.
Was in a hurry so ran out and blipped the fob but no indicators, did this a few times whilst running, so stopped turned round facing car and blipped again, nothing. Went back to car checked the car in case I'd left a door or boot half closed, open/closed all doors and clicked fob as I went, still not locking... As I was doing this noticed the guy sat in his car was grinning at me...
Thought sod that the guys are having a laugh! So just jumped in the car relocated closer to entrance, locked no probs.
Only realised afterwards that I should have reported it, but the guy had gone by the time I'd finsihed shopping. In anycase whether the guy next to me was at or someone else, if I was really in a hurry I could have not noticed and could have left my car vurnerable.
My car was still there when I got back, so I think it was a jamming device of some sort, to not necessaryly to capture the code, just leave it unlocked. So this stuff does happen, just be careful out there folks ...
PS. In future, I'll remember to photgraph dodgy looking folk with my phone before reporting to security staff.
