Hi All,
Yes another newbie,
I have been a stalker on this forum for awhile, ive tended to search info on here and found alot of very useful stuff (thank you)
I have an issue with my key, (the only key that i have)
When i purchased the car, the lock button on the remote key was broken, i say broken, the switch was broken but can be engaged using a key/screw driver etc.
Anyway, i did a make shift repair on it which has kept it working fine for around 6 months.
Lately, all buttons on the key have been playing up, when i say playing it, id press it 5/10 times and it will just about unlock.
I managed to get a microswitch for the lock button and have successfully repaired the lock button.
However, i still have the issue of it working after multiple attempts.
Its got to the stage now where, the only way it'll work is if i remove the key cover (as wierd as that sounds.
And even then, the only time it really works as it should is when i remove the key cover/case and press the switches from within the car only. Bizarrely, if i put the key cover back in place it does not work anymore and i can hear the switches clicking on the remote but nothing until i remove the key case.
I initially thought it might just be a dead battery but i put another new one in and it also didnt resolve it. It seems the range has completely gone on it.
Ive sucessfully resynced it but it makes no difference. The key will only work intermittently when i remove the key case and sit inside the car whilst doing so.
Any ideas ppl??
I am in the process of getting a further two remote keys made, my concern is whether its the receiver and not the key itself that is the problem. If it is, any guidance as to how/where to find the offender will be greatly appreciated. Such a slick car and having to use the key lock manually makes it feel like im back in 1998.
