Remote control of roof....

Perhaps someone is able to answer this for me. I don't have the comfort access pack on my 23i e89.

I can open via the remote the roof, and it fully retracts...

I can't seem to close the roof via remote, by pressing and holding the BMW-logo lock button on the fob.

What am I doing wrong? Do you only have the ability to close if you have the comfort access pack?

I believe BMW do not sanction remote closing ....safety issues .Certainly applies to pre 09 models

Yip, as Wondermike says above. It actually tells you in the manual its best to operate the roof with the engine running to avoid unnecessary strain on the battery.

My neighbours have paid around £100 to be able to operate the roof fully (open and close it) from the keyfob on their new Merc SLK. They thought this was an important option to have... :?

Just spotted this post, and it seems to imply you can open the roof remotely without the comfort access - is this correct?

Yep, just hold the unlock button down and after a few seconds the magic begins :)

I do occasionally open the roof from a distance so car is ready to go as soon aas I get to it :driving:
Short drive home with roof down usually becomes a longer drive so battery gets charged :D

Doh! I didn't realise this.... Now I can't wait to try it when I get home next week.

Would also be nice to get the top down whilst still moving in slow traffic etc - but the prices of the custom modules are a bit too high to tempt me.
