K ksher Veteran Bedfordshire Apr 8, 2009 #1 The boot release button only works after I press unlock first. I can't open the boot with remote key when the car is locked. Is it something that only dealers can change the setting of the key? I don't have this problem with all my previous BMWs.

I read somewhere that you have to hold the trunk (boot) release button for at least one second for it to work. Chuck Norris does not hold it that long, the trunk knows better and opens itself as soon as Chuck presses the trunk release button.
